Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 19, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how MockTear ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use the MockTear web application (the "Service"), which generates 3D-style smartphone mockups from screenshots using AI.
1. Information We Collect
- Account information: email address, password hash, and—if you sign in with Google—your Google account ID, name, and avatar URL.
- Uploaded content: screenshots and prompts you submit to generate mockups.
- Generated content: the AI-generated images we produce for you, the prompt used, and the frame setting.
- Usage data: language preference, credit balance, and timestamps of activity.
- Payment data: when you purchase credits, payment processing is handled by our payment provider (Polar.sh). We do not store your full card details on our servers; we receive checkout confirmation and a customer/subscription identifier.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide the core service: generating, storing, and showing your mockups in your history.
- To authenticate you and keep your account secure.
- To track and update your credit balance and subscription status.
- To respond to support requests and improve the Service.
3. AI Processing
Screenshots and prompts you submit are sent to Google's Gemini API to generate the requested mockup. Use of that API is subject to Google's terms and privacy practices. We do not use your uploads to train our own models.
4. Data Storage
Account data and generated images are stored in our PostgreSQL database. Generated images are scoped to your account and are only served to you when you are signed in.
5. Sharing of Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers necessary to operate the Service, such as Google (AI generation and Sign-In) and Polar.sh (payments).
6. Cookies and Local Storage
We use local storage to keep your authentication token (JWT) so you stay signed in. We may set a cookie on logout to clear your session. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
7. Your Rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your account and stored images at any time by contacting us through the support channel on our website. We will respond to verified requests within a reasonable timeframe, subject to applicable legal retention requirements.
8. Data Retention
We retain your account information and generated images for as long as your account is active, or as needed to comply with legal obligations.
9. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above will reflect any changes. Continued use of the Service after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
11. Contact
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or our data practices, please contact us through the support channel listed on our website.
